Discover how AMT’s digital transformation redefined urban mobility in Montreal, enhancing the public transit experience through a user-centric website redesign aimed at fostering seamless travel across the city.
Agence Métropolitaine de Transport (AMT) manages the complex public transit operations in the greater Montreal area, overseeing multiple modes of transportation including trains, metros, and buses. AMT aims to facilitate sustainable urban mobility by providing efficient, integrated, and user-friendly transit solutions.
The project was designed to overhaul AMT’s digital interface, transforming it into a dynamic tool that would not only meet but anticipate the needs of modern commuters. The goal was to position AMT’s website as a central hub for Montreal’s transportation network, enabling efficient trip planning and real-time transit updates.
As the Lead UX Designer, I spearheaded the comprehensive user research phase, which identified key user pain points and expectations. My responsibilities extended through the design and development phases.
I oversaw the creation of intuitive user interfaces and the implementation of features that personalized user interactions based on their travel preferences and behaviors.
The redesign strategy was rooted in a deep empirical understanding of user interactions and transport dynamics. I conducted extensive stakeholder workshops and user testing sessions to refine our concepts.
Accessibility tests were also conducted with people with the following types of disabilities: full and partial visual limitation, hearing limitation, cognitive, intellectual limitations, and pervasive developmental and speech disorders.
The design process was highly iterative, allowing us to adapt quickly to user feedback and evolving project requirements. We emphasized accessibility and personalization, ensuring the platform served all users effectively, regardless of their tech savviness or mobility needs.
The launch of the redesigned AMT website marked a significant shift in how commuters interacted with Montreal's public transit system:
